Wiki Project “The World After the Dot”: Best Wiki Editors Honored

On January 15, marking the 25th anniversary of the founding of Wikipedia, a celebratory event was held at the Armenian office of the organization, during which the annual awards ceremony of the educational and scientific NGO Wikimedia Armenia took place.

The event also presented the results of the “The World After the Dot” edit-a-thon, conducted from November 1 to 30, 2025, in cooperation with the “Internet Society” NGO.

As part of the project, 302 articles focusing on internet domains and infrastructure were published on Armenian Wikipedia. Of these, 197 were newly created articles, while 105 existing entries were significantly improved.

In recognition of their consistent efforts and contributions to high-quality content creation, three actively participating wiki editors were awarded certificates of appreciation along with monetary prizes.

“Our five-year collaboration includes a range of initiatives, all aimed at developing Armenian-language content and promoting knowledge in the digital space. This is a strategically important mission, and we are committed to continuing our partnership,” said Kristina Hakobyan, Board Vice Chair of the Internet Society NGO, congratulating the partners on the anniversary and the successful implementation of another joint initiative.

Over the course of five years of cooperation between the Internet Society and Wikimedia Armenia, more than 2,300 new articles have been added to Armenian Wikipedia.

During the ceremony, Wikimedia Armenia co-founder Mher Bekaryan emphasized that expanding access to reliable Armenian-language content is a key step toward enriching the public information environment.

He noted that in 2025 alone, approximately 11,000 articles were published on Armenian Wikipedia through the efforts of Wikimedia Armenia.
