The .am domain, Armenia’s country code top-level domain (ccTLD), continues to expand its presence in the global domain market in its 32nd year of operation. Currently, more than 48,500 domain names are registered under .am, reflecting not only the domain’s stable growth but also sustained interest in it.
More than 62% of registrations come from Armenia. At the same time, .am is no longer just a local domain. The 9,187 registrations from the United States, 1,778 from China, 1,177 from Russia, and 514 from Germany demonstrate its growing international demand. This is driven not only by users connected to Armenia and the availability of many unregistered names, but also by the branding and associative value of the abbreviation “.am”.
The .am ccTLD is widely used as a recognizable abbreviation across various sectors, such as Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AM), Additive Manufacturing (AM), Asset Management (AM), Augmented Marketing (AM), and Armenian Made (AM). This gives .am an additional competitive advantage in the global domain market.
Another key factor in the development of .am is its open and accessible registration model. With 79 accredited registrars in Armenia and their resellers worldwide, the system enables individuals and organizations from any country to register .am domain names.
