In May, a regional exchange meeting held in Berlin brought together representatives from Armenia, Serbia, Kyrgyzstan, and Germany to discuss the future of digital governance and the role of civil society, think tanks, and expert communities in shaping it.
The event served as a unique platform for representatives of civil society organizations, public institutions, digital policy experts, and partner organizations from the four countries to explore emerging trends, challenges and opportunities in digital governance. Through the application of foresight methodology, participants shared experiences and perspectives from the Eastern Partnership countries, the Western Balkans, Central Asia, and the European Union, examining how different stakeholders can contribute to the development of more inclusive, democratic, and human-centered digital policies.
The program combined interactive discussions, peer-to-peer learning sessions and collaborative workshops focused on key issues in digital governance, including data protection, ethical artificial intelligence, digital rights and multi-stakeholder cooperation.
The Internet Society NGO was represented at the event by Board Member Katarina Gevorgyan.
“Meetings like this provide a valuable opportunity to strengthen cooperation and build a shared understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing digital governance. Such multi-stakeholder dialogue is essential for ensuring an inclusive, rights-based digital transformation that serves the public interest,” said Katarina Gevorgyan.
The event was organized within the framework of the Digital Democracy for All (DD4ALL) initiative launched by GIZ. It was implemented through the close cooperation of the regional programs Public Administration Reform in the Eastern Partnership Countries III and Strengthening Civil Society in the Eastern Partnership Countries, with financial support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The Armenian delegation also included representatives from FOICA, ISAA, dpHub, Digital Armenia Foundation, and GIZ Armenia, highlighting Armenia’s active engagement in regional dialogue and cooperation on digital governance.
