This year’s “Wiki.հայ” competition, organized annually in collaboration with “Internet Society” NGO and “Wikimedia Armenia” NGO, was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of .am and the introduction of the Internet in Armenia.
The goal of the competition is to enrich the internet with Armenian content. This year, the focus of the content created for the anniversary was on the internet and the domain sphere, highlighting local and international figures, organizations, concepts, and events that have made significant contributions. As a result, around 100 articles have been written and published on the online encyclopedia “Wikipedia” over the past two months.
The results of “Wiki.հայ” were announced at the solemn ceremony marking the 30th anniversary of .am and the “Internet Society” NGO. Seven editors from “Wikimedia Armenia” were honored with awards in four categories, based on content areas. The awardees included Arshaluys Ayvazyan, Armine Aghayan-Flish, Slava Sahakyan, Ani Grigoryan, Mari Avetisyan, and Emily Meliqyan.
“Internet Society” NGO also presented special anniversary awards. The “.am 30” award was given to Argam Hakobyan for his contributions in authoring articles about the Armenian national domain name. Another special award was presented to Mher Bekaryan for his significant and long-term personal contributions to enriching Armenian content on the internet.
The awards were presented by Andranik Aleksanyan, Director of the Internet Society NGO, who expressed his gratitude to everyone for their high-quality work.
“Preserving culture, language, and strengthening identity today also requires the expansion of Armenian domains on the internet. Our organization will continue to bring together creative and responsible individuals to address these challenges. In this regard, ‘Wiki.հայ’ is important as it stands as an example of successful collaboration,” emphasized Aleksanyan.
“Internet Society” NGO, which has been organizing the ‘Wiki.հայ’ competition for years, has made a significant contribution to enriching quality Armenian content on the internet. As a result of our collaboration, we now have around 2,000 new articles and many others that have been improved on ‘Wikipedia,'” said Mher Bekaryan.
The winners in all categories received certificates of honor and monetary prizes.
