The digital library management initiative of the “Internet Society Armenia Chapter” PO is operational at the “Yerevan State Theater and Film Institute”

The collaboration between the “Internet Society Armenia Chapter” PO and “Yerevan State Theater and Film Institute” commenced in March of last year. The Chapter introduced its newly developed digital library management program to the University, offering it free of charge along with professional guidance. The program was officially implemented at the University starting September 2023.

Gayane Sargsyan, the head librarian of “Yerevan State Theater and Film Institute”, elucidated, “This program will markedly enhance our library’s operations, enhancing speed, completeness of bibliographic data, and facilitating permanent Internet connectivity with our readers.”

She noted that out of the 46,000 units housed in the University library, 8,000 have already been integrated into the system, with ongoing daily efforts. Upon completion, the entirety of these units will seamlessly transition to the library’s digital management system.

The digital library management program, created by the “Internet Society Armenia Chapter” PO, is designed to run efficiently even on low-power computers, such as Pentium 4. The application is user-friendly, swift, and available in multiple languages. It guarantees accurate registration and effective management of all bibliographic data. Additionally, it enables the processing of both text and image downloads without the need for additional applications or programs.

This program has been effectively utilized to address the challenges of digital management and modernization within the libraries of “Yerevan State Theater and Film Institute” and the Lori Region.
