Global Domain Market Grows by 1.8% in Q3 2025

According to Verisign’s Domain Name Industry Brief, the global domain name market grew by 1.8% in the third quarter of 2025. As of September 30, there were 378.5 million registered domain names worldwide. The report summarizes the key developments and statistics of the international DNS market for the third quarter of 2025.

Compared to the previous quarter, domain registrations increased by 6.8 million, marking a 1.8% growth. Year over year, the number of domain names grew by 16.2 million, or 4.5%.

The total number of domain names registered under .com and .net, both managed by Verisign, reached 171.9 million. This represents an increase of 1.4 million (0.8%) compared to the previous quarter, and 2.4 million (1.4%) compared to the same period last year.

At the same time, registrations under the .net domain slightly declined by about 100,000, totaling 12.5 million, while the .com domain saw continued growth, reaching 159.4 million.

Based on current data, Verisign analysts forecast a 2.2–2.5% increase in the global domain market by the end of the year. The average renewal rate for domain names is estimated at 75.3%, with the highest renewal rate observed in the .org domain zone (86.2%) and the lowest in the .xyz zone (19.5%).
