Armenia’s efforts in the Universal Acceptance (UA) process were discussed during a meeting between members of the Internet Society NGO and Eleeza Agopian, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).
During a recent private visit to Armenia, Agopian noted in a meeting with colleagues that, in terms of introducing a multilingual internet, the country is in a natural phase of development and aligned with international trends.
Katarina Gevorgyan, External Relations Manager of the Internet Society NGO (ISOC AM), emphasized the importance of broad cooperation with ICANN, stating: “Eleven years ago, we began the process of creating the Armenian-script .հայ domain, recognizing its strategic significance. Through this initiative, we contribute to promoting the Armenian alphabet and representing Armenia within the context of global languages”.
The organization continues its efforts to further develop the domain name and expand its application capabilities. According to Gevorgyan, ISOC AM is joining the International Day of Universal Acceptance by organizing a thematic conference and other events in various formats.
Eleeza Agopian described Armenia’s representation within ICANN and its participation in the corporation’s activities as active and effective.
