Internet Society NGO, the registry for .am domain – Armenia’s country code – initiated the process of creating .հայ domain in 2014 and officially launched it on May 5, 2016.
Today, we celebrate the 9th anniversary of the launch of .հայ domain. To date, over 990 web addresses have been registered using the domain, all entirely in Armenian.
Our organization has played a key role in the development of the Armenian-script domain name, working in collaboration with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and other international organizations in the field.
For the second consecutive year, thanks to the efforts of specialists at the Internet Society NGO, it has been possible to create email addresses entirely in Armenian – for example, անուն.ազգանուն@հայ – provided you have a domain registered under .հայ.
The Armenian – script domain .հայ not only addresses the issue of transliteration (e.g., ծաղկաձոր.հայ, քաջարան.հայ), but also strengthens Armenia’s presence in the digital world and promotes greater Internet accessibility.
