Cybersecurity in .am is also actively monitored by CERTs.

The Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) of Armenia presented their current activities to the registrars at “Regiton2024” within the framework of cybersecurity issues in .am and .հայ.

“ISOC, recognizing the importance of these teams, created one of the first CERTs in 2009, which cooperated with a similar center in the scientific and educational network of Armenia. Today, we have such teams in Armenia that are working on enhancing cybersecurity,” said Kristina Hakobyan, Board Vice-Chair of the Internet Society NGO, highlighting the importance of CERT cooperation.

CERTs regularly monitor websites operating in Armenian domains and inform operators about potential threats. The challenge is to respond to these warnings in a timely and proper manner, as direct cooperation can significantly enhance the level of cybersecurity.

Armenia is the 111th country to join the Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST). This membership provides an opportunity for international cooperation, information exchange about cyber threats, and training for cybersecurity specialists within the Armenian Computer Incident Response Teams (CERT).

CERTs worldwide were established in 1988 following the mass distribution of the “Internet worm” virus in the network of Carnegie Mellon University in the USA. Two years later, in 1990, FIRST, acting as a link between CERTs operating in different countries, expanded their field of activity and increased their importance.
