The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Dublin from October 25 to 30, bringing together thousands of representatives from governments, civil society, the private sector and the global technical community.
Armenia’s delegation will include representatives from the “Internet Society” NGO and the “Internet Society Armenia Chapter” PO.
This year’s meeting comes at a critical time for the future of the Internet, just ahead of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS+20), which will reflect on 20 years of global digital cooperation.
Key topics on the agenda are expected to have a direct impact on global governance, sustainable development and technological sovereignty. In this context, the multistakeholder model of governance is increasingly important in ensuring the Internet remains a safe, open and accessible space for all.
One of the primary goals of ICANN84 is the approval of the Applicant Guidebook for the next round of New gTLDs, paving the way for the launch of new domain applications, scheduled to begin in April 2026.
“ICANN84 is not only a platform to bring local concerns to the global stage, but also an opportunity to understand how we can keep pace with technological advancements worldwide,”- said Kristina Hakobyan, Board Vice Chair of the Internet Society NGO.
