Root servers, Policy of domain name registration in ".am" and ".հայ" domain zones

Oleg Demidov, consultant at the Moscow-based PIR Center, delivered a technical training on domain names, IP addresses, and root servers. Thereafter, Hrachya Hakobyan, Chief lawyer at "Internet Technologies Center" Ltd., presented the Policy of domain name registration in ".am" and ".հայ" domain zones. An active discussion took place at the training, during which the participants addressed many questions and received comprehensive answers.

ArmSIG | Internet Society, DiploFoundation

On 10 February, our first speaker is Ceren Ünal, the European Chapter Development Manager at Internet Society. Ms. Ünal will speak about "Internet Society", its mission, structure and main activities. Our next speaker will be Igor Mkrtumyan, the President of "Internet Society" NGO, one of the pioneers of establishing Internet in Armenia who has made an immense contribution to its development within the country, as well as to the launch of Armenian ccTLDs ".am" and ".հայ". Igor Mkrtumyan will present "Internet Society" NGO, its mission and main activities. Sorina Teleanu, Dgital Policy Senior Researcher at DiploFoundation, Executive Committee Chair at SEEDIG (South Eastern European Dialogue on Internet Governance), who is originally from Romania and currently based in Malta, will speak about the role and mission of DiploFoundation in Internet Governance and its main activities. Lianna Galstyan, the Executive Committee member at SEEDIG, will make a presentation of SEEDIG annual meetings as well as intersessional activities.

ArmSIG | ICANN, IGF, RIPE NCC

On 3 February, Alexandra Kulikova, the Head of Global Stakeholder Engagement for Eastern Europe & Central Asia at ICANN will talk about the mission, policy, structure and the main activities of ICANN. Our next speaker Lianna Galstyan, the Public Relations Manager at Armenian Multi-Stakeholder Internet Governance Council (IGC) and the External Relations Manager at the Internet Society NGO (ISOC Armenia) as well as the Vice Chair of APRALO at ICANN will make a presentation about the APRALO. Following them we will invite Anja Gengo, who works for the IGF Secretariat as the focal point for the national and regional IGFs (NRIs). She will talk about the IGF, its principles, working mechanisms as well as present the development of NRIs. The meeting will be closed by presentation of Christian Teuschel, System Architect at RIPE NCC. He will talk about the future of Internet & Network Infrastructure as well as how IoT is changing the Internet.

Internet Society NGO announces the launch of the Second Edition of the Armenian School on Internet Governance

Internet Society NGO announces the launch of the Second Edition of the Armenian School on Internet Governance. The five-month free course will take place at the American University of Armenia in the coordination with the "United Armenian Volunteers League".The whole course is divided into six sections: Introduction, Technical, Legal, Security, Economic and Socio-Cultural․Thematic discussions will be held in different formats: Q&As, debates, webinars, open discussions, etc. where the students will have an opportunity to use the practical information they learn.Out of the 89 applicants from different Armenian Universities, 38 students were selected for this course. The start of the 2nd Edition of ArmSIG was on January 13.
