Girls in ICT

This year, Internet Society NGO for the first time has organized an event dedicated to "Girls in ICT" Day. The objective of the event was to create an environment where the participation and achievements of girls and women in ICT are encouraged. The event was organized in a "Round Table" format, with face-to-face and remote participation of experienced and successful women and young girls using information technologies. Participants with diverse professional skills talked about their activities as well as about how IT helps them achieve success in their work. At the end of the event, the participants highly appreciated the importance of such meetings and expressed their desire to make it regular, promoting the atmosphere of cooperation.

ArmSIG | Cybersecurity in Russia and IG Ecosystem

The topic of April 21 meeting was cyber security, and our special guest was Leonid Todorov, APTLD General Manager. He presented the situation of cyber security in Russia and made comparisons with that of in Armenia. Participants actively inquired about the parallels in both countries, as well as asked questions about the Internet governance ecosystem.

She presented in detail the approaches and guidelines of the Council of Europe on human rights online and offline. The participants had the opportunity to direct their concerns and inquiries to the lecturer through questions and answers.

Registrars | Training on GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation)

On April 11, the Internet Society NGO organized a workshop for Registrar companies on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) set by the European Union entering into force on 25 May, 2018. After the presentation of the main aspects, the participants of the workshop expressed their concerns about the (non)compliance consequences of GDPR.

Gevorg Hayrapetyan from the Personal Data Protection Agency of the Republic of Armenia, presented the key issues of personal data protection at the Armenian School on Internet Governance. He noted that the main task of the sphere is to protect a person from unjustified interference and encroachment in his/her personal life. He presented real facts and cases. The training was wrapped up with many interesting questions related to the topic.
