Anna Karakhanyan

Administrator, Armenian Network Information Center (AMNIC)

Anna Karakhanyan is the Administrator of the Armenian Network Information Center (AMNIC), which is the Registry of .am and .հայ domain name zones. Anna has a huge experience in the Registry/Registrar relations and in management of domain name registrations. In 1986-1991 she worked at All-union Institute of Applied Automated Systems, where she established the first package connection with the global networks working with x.25 protocol as a junior researcher. She worked in the oldest internet service provider company “Arminco” LLC since its establishment (1992). Participated in the establishment of the "Armenian Internet Users Group" NGO (which later became the “Internet Society” NGO) as a representative of the Internet community of the Republic of Armenia, specializing in library database search systems. She has been a Board member of “Internet Society” NGO since 2003. In 2000, after the establishment of Registrars Institute, she ensured the cooperation between “Internet Society” NGO and Registrars.

She regularly participates in various IT conferences, presenting the achievements and accomplishments of “Internet Society” NGO.

Ms. Karakhanyan also was the Chief coordinator of international projects like “Narot Network”, “Three Pomegranates” and “Education for Development” in Armenia. She has been an active volunteer with CYSCA-Cambridge Yerevan Sister City Association (USA) and Board member of YCSCA-Yerevan Cambridge Sister City Association since 1998.
